Bonez Adventures is, according to its creators, a combination of RPGs and adventure games, although it is better described as an action game with elements of RPGs and adventures. Bonez Adventures consists of several parts, each of which provides about 12 hours of gameplay (episodes are issued cyclically, from time to time, by the producer). Each of them has its own unique plot, different locations, independent heroes, opponents and weapons. The link between all parts is one, bigger and complex story. The game is watched from a third person’s perspective and consists of conversations with the NPCs, solving logical puzzles, using various objects, mini-action games and fighting enemies and avoiding traps. Each episode of the game leads us to ancient cultures and places. Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Great Britain, these are just some of the locations that we encounter on our way. Players can also come across hidden bonus boards to improve their skills.
The action of the game was placed in the 1930s of the last century. The main character of Bonez Adventures, Mac Bonez, in which the player plays, is an employee of the Archaeological Museum in London. Together with his colleague, Dr. Roderson, he sets off on excavations in Egypt. They find there a strange sarcophagus, with its mummy more than 2000 years older than the crypt in which it is located. These are probably the remains of Fulaos, the ancient Pharaoh, and the crypt contains long forgotten knowledge. Roderson sets out to get permission to continue working, and our hero tries to do his research on his own. Unfortunately, the entrance to the crypt is buried and the only road Mac Bonez can follow leads deep into the tomb.
Our hero has a few basic skills, such as being able to beat well, he is also familiar with the ability to read ancient scrolls. During the game, experience points are gained (e.g. for decoding coils, solving a problem or killing enemies). After reaching a certain level of experience, the player is rewarded with skill points, which he can distribute to his basic characteristics. Battles against enemies, as well as casting spells, take place in real time. Take some time to read the coils, as they can contain valuable information about hidden locations, the story of the game, as well as hints and tips for mini games.
Magic and spells are an inseparable part of the game. The spells are presented in the form of coils. When we find such a spell it is automatically transferred to our logbook and we can use it. To take advantage of the spell again, unfortunately, you have to find it again. Magic is also present in some objects (necklaces, rings, bracelets or belts) that our character can wear. The effect and power of the spell depends on your character’s ability to enchant.
