Bolo
This is a remake of the game Bolo for Atari ST. It is a Breakout variant with
a twist: Your paddle is not restricted to the bottom of the screen — it can
move all around the screen. Your goal is still to destroy all the blocks on
the game field.
There are a lot of gimmicks in the 50 levels: lack of gravity, ice levels with
slippery controls or various paddle forms. Sometimes a rubber band is used to
tie the ball to the paddle, to a block or even combinations of the two. Even
the blocks offer a big variety of effects: magnetising the ball, teleport the
ball, obscuring the game field or the summoning of killer paddles are just a
few of them.
You can only save one game which gets deleted if you load it. Every level has
a illustrated background. When scoring a highscore of 50,000 points or more
you get access to a training mode where you can choose the levels directly.
