An Early Spring

## Description

The player’s mouse cursor controls the position of two dragonflies, one
directly and one as a fellow traveler. Interpreting the game’s name, one
figures that winter has ended before schedule and groggy dragonflies are
emerging from a hibernatory stupor (or recovering from migration — can we get
a biologist to set things straight, please?) and require food in a serious
way! Toward this end the player’s pair of dragonflies on the wing pass slower
dragonflies in mid-air and help their slower buggy brethren refuel by dropping
pellets of food on the hungry insects, an acrobatic act accomplished by
tapping the underside of the active dragonfly against the top of the support
dragonfly. If the trajectory of the food pellet delivers it to its intended
recipient, points are awarded scaled according to the height from which the
food was dropped, the higher the more difficult.

Obstacles in the player’s path consist of big black burly rhinoceros beetles
clogging up the flight path; touching one of these deducts one of three hit
points. Sporadically, a temporary invulnerability bonus can be found rendering
the rhino beetles inconsequential for a time.

Like most Orisinal casual games, this one can go on indefinitely and is played
for no goal beyond a high score.
