ADI English: 12/13 Years
Wednesday’s version 1.1, which is the main one for the “ADI English 12/13” that is currently being presented , is practically the same as its French elder sisters 1.0 1990–1991. issue, with a detailed description of one of which can be found on the page “ADI – CE1”. Of the changes – besides, naturally, the English language of the interface – only the long-awaited absence of the need to enter additional security codes to launch the program itself (now this action is required only to activate the module), for some reason the added distinction of the user’s gender (when you enter our ADI name) now specifies whether it belongs to the girl), as well as the display of all nine available games in the F2 entertainment menu at once. Of course, initially only the first of them is available to us – the same habitual arkanoid, called “Break Through” in a localized form, while the others are grayed out and still open as points are gained. But now the young player has a slightly greater impetus for successful learning: after all, it’s curious what is behind the headlines like “Wipa Snapa” or “Mega Alcatraz Adi” (however, we will tell you that the second in a row can get a real classic “Battleship”!). The range of “Utilities” and “Documentation” has not changed at all: in the first menu, we are waiting for a notebook, diary, calculator, sending / receiving letters and a control panel, and in the second menu, a reference to the geography of Europe, familiar from French originals, a fun task to acquire PC (only, of course, with pounds instead of francs), an illustrated collection of proverbs and sayings, as well as mini-cartoons about planets, volcanoes, internal combustion engines and other butterflies.
The only available so far module English-speaking “ADI”1992 release – “English for 12-13 years old”, i.e., an analogue of the French fifth grade. As an entourage, we are presented with an office of a clearly “yellow” newspaper called “The Daily Scoop”, in five rooms of which, from the assembly shop to the archives, not counting the main lobby, twenty-six thematic sections with more than 1,000 available exercises and assignments. Some of them are equipped with a special button with the image of the newspaper – here you can read the relevant article a fresh article, an understanding of which is often required for the successful completion of a lesson. Otherwise, everything is quite familiar: we introduce the correct endings of words and prescribe temporary forms of verbs, mark pronouns or nouns in sentences, deal with homophones, arrange dictionary terms and phone book entries in alphabetical order
In general, despite the ascetic appearance, “ADI English 12/13” deserves attention: familiarity with this rare and almost forgotten thing turns out to be a good reason to check and improve your level of English, and at the same time have a rest for various mini-games.
