8874 is a platformer with a dark climate, the action of which takes place in one of the Polish cities – Walbrzych. In this production you can find many of the most famous landmarks of the city, such as the Ksiaz Castle, Chelmiec Mountain or the dam in Zagorze. Polish independent company GroundUpStudio led by Tomasz Gora is responsible for its development. The title won the Pixel Awards 2018 in the Best Debut category and was additionally distinguished by the audience.

### Plot

The driving force behind plot 8874 is mystery. The protagonist wakes up in an unknown place and has no idea whether the things he sees are dreams or manifestations. What is really happening? Is there any danger in the dark city hidden in the fog?

The story was written by Mirek Lenart and Roman Majewski from RMVision Productions.

### Mechanics

8874 is a classic, two-dimensional platformer, which can evoke associations with titles such as Limbo or Inside. Watching the action from the side (from the so-called side-scroll perspective) we move around the locations, jumping, solving quite simple logic puzzles, bypassing traps and avoiding monsters. Gradually we also discover the secrets and legends of Walbrzych.

### Game modes

In 8874 we can only play alone, beating a number of levels within a single player campaign.

### Technical aspects

8874 has an attractive graphic design. We are dealing with two-dimensional production, but the graphics of which were made in full 3D, using a modern engine Unreal Engine from Epic Games, as well as technology of photogrammetry, i.e. three-dimensional scanning of the environment (in this way – based on photographs by Marcin Jagiellicz – locations modelled on real places, which we visit in the game, were developed). Dariusz Miziarski (owner of Howling Wolf recording studio in Swidnica) and Nullo – rapper from Walbrzych, member of the band Trzeci Wymiar (in the game you can hear songs from his SPG Dystrykt) are responsible for creating the soundtrack.
