nimal Crossing: Wild World, known in Japan as Animal Forest: Come on Over (おいでよどうぶつの森 Oideyo Dōbutsu no Mori?) is a life simulation game for the Nintendo DS, set in a town where the player is a person who lives among animals. It is a follow-up to the 2002 hit Animal Crossing for the Nintendo GameCube and the Japan-only Animal Forest, Animal Forest+, and Animal Forest e+. This is also the first South Korean release, known as Animal Forest: Come in to Play (놀러오세요 동물의숲, Nolla Oseyo Dongmul-ui Soup) in South Korea. It was also unofficially translated into Mandarin Chinese as Welcome to the Animal Forest (欢迎来到动物之森, Huānyíng lái dào dòngwù zhī sēn)[1]. During development, the working title was 'Animal Crossing DS'.
‘Acceptable’ acre
You can have at most 8 non-perfect acres in your town. These acres will still need to have flowers or trees to be considered acceptable if you want a perfect town. An acceptable acre that does not have any trees must have at least 21 flowers. If you have 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, or 17 trees in the acre, you do not need any flowers in it to make it acceptable. Therefore, it is a good idea to make sure all acres in your town have at least 12 trees in them, because then you will only need to put 3 flowers into a given acre for it to be considered a perfect acre. Nine trees in an acre, or 18 trees in an acre, will need 3 flowers to make it acceptable. For each number of trees fewer than nine or greater than 18, add two more flowers.
‘Unacceptable’ acre
More than two weeds in an acre will make it unacceptable for a perfect town. More than two items in an acre, excluding fruit, shells, or acorns, will render it unacceptable.
Tips for maintaining a perfect town
Use patterns on the ground to help you determine the boundaries of your acres. Then consider planting a tree on the boundaries of each acre to give you a permanent (sort of) indication of where the boundary is. After that, plant 12 trees in each acre, then put at least three flowers into at least eight of the acres. It is best to put more than three flowers into those acres, in case you forget to water your flowers and end up losing some to wilting. Be sure to water your flowers every day until you get the golden watering can.
Getting the Golden Watering Can
Talk to Pelly or Phyllis in the left-hand window of the town hall and ask about The Environment. She will tell you if the town is perfect or not. Then, on the day after you have had a perfect town for 15 days, she will give you a golden watering can when you talk to her.
How to cure the bee sting
Tom Nook’s multi-purpose medicine does everything from curing a villager’s cold to healing bee stings instantly. You can even put it on a countertop and pretend that it is a bag of flour!
But I digress. If you have some of this miracle medicine in your pockets, drag it to the drawing of your person to use it on yourself, and in a blinding flash, your bee sting will instantly disappear.
Another method for curing the bee sting
Unfortunately, Tom Nook only has one bag of medicine in stock in the store each day. In the all-too-likely event that you get stung in the face by bees more than once in a day, what do you do?
An easy way to cure a bee sting is to save the game and then start playing again. If you have a bee sting, and you save the game and start playing again, the bee sting will have mysteriously vanished. When you save the game, your character is basically taking a nap, so I guess bed rest is sufficient to cure a bee sting in the Wild World of Animal Crossing. Even if that nap is only a few minutes long.
Bee sting insurance
Lyle, the weasel insurance salesman, includes bee sting insurance in his insurance policy. If you take out an insurance policy with Lyle, you will receive 100 Bells in the mail every time you get stung by a bee. This is hardly sufficient, considering that if you catch a bee, you get 450 Bells if you sell it to Tom Nook. However, I suppose that it is better than nothing!
How to avoid bee stings
The only sure way to avoid bee stings is to not go around shaking trees. For people who enjoy getting free money and furniture from trees, however, this is not a very appealing option. A better strategy is to carry a net in your pocket while you go on your tree-shaking journey so that you can attempt to catch any bees that might attack. (I will write a guide to catching bees as time allows.)
If you tend to be unlucky with catching bees, another option is to run for the nearest door as soon as you see a bee hive falling from a tree. If you can run inside of a house, Tom Nook’s store, the museum, or any other indoor location before the bees sting you, you will be safe from a bee sting.
It is also possible, though difficult, to quickly change directions just as the bees are about to reach you. If you quickly turn to the left or right as the bees come up behind you, they will go the wrong way for a short time. Usually this isn’t long enough to allow you to get your bug catching net ready, though.
