They take place on the Dutch’s Island, and should allow you to learn all the game’s basic mechanics, such as helping the local resistance and weakening the cultists in Far Cry 5.
A Glimmer of Hope
This one is short and simple. Use the drawer and clothe your character. The choice is final and you cannot change the looks of your character later in the game – save for the clothes, which you can buy and obtain further on.
Talk to Dutch in the bunker. From the table, take a gun, the map of Hope County and Dutch’s Key. The key opens the armory (picture above), Where you can pick up some additional items. Use the stairs to reach the surface. You’re on the Dutch’s Island. Another main mission will begin.
The Resistance
In this quest, you will have to weaken the cultist’s influence in Dutch’s island. This is a tutorial of the mechanics of helping the resistance in Far Cry 5. In this quest, you will have:
- Help the hostages – each person saved adds 50 resistance points;
- Complete the Guns for Hire main quest (walkthrough below);
- Devastate the cult shrines – each destroyed shrine (you can use grenades for example) awards 75 resistance points;
- Storm and secure the cult outpost on the island (Ranger Station).
There’s a truck trailer on the island. If you can break into it, you will get 75 resistance points and will be able to replenish your ammo supply.
After completing every item on the list, go to the Radio Tower. You need to activate the beacon, which requires climbing the ladder all the way up. Activating the ladder will rid the island of all cultists. Watch the tutorial on capturing the remaining parts of the map. Use the line to go back to the ground. The remaining regions can be visited in any order (they’re a lot bigger).
Mission reward: 900 resistance points; the entire gameworld unlocked
Guns for Hire
This quest appears in the protagonist’s journal when you’re securing the Dutch’s Island in Far Cry 5. According to his order, go to the Silver Lake Boathouse. Get rid of the cultists and save the hostage (50 resistance points). The person has to join you as a soldier (gun for hire) – approach him and hold the “Hire” button.
Go to the Forest Research Station. Secure the location by any means necessary.
