A new Five Nights at Freddy’s game launched out of nowhere today–and on its face it looks basically nothing like the previous games in the horror series. Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator is a free Steam game that has a “lighter touch for the holidays,” according to creator Scott Cawthon. You play as a pizzeria boss, and your tasks include designing pizzas (pepperoni, sausage, onion, mushroom, olives, and peppers are options), and then throwing them at hungry customers to score points.
But as the let’s play video from Markiplier shows, Pizzeria Simulator is not all that it seems. We won’t spoil the surprise, but check out the video below to see what happens after the first few sequences. It’s a pretty big shift. You can download Pizzeria Simulator here on Steam.
Some believe Pizzeria Simulator is actually Five Nights at Freddy’s 6, which Cawthon announced and quickly canceled earlier this year. Or maybe he didn’t.
The Five Nights at Freddy’s series debuted in August 2014 on PC and has since been ported to iOS. Sequels Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, 3, and 4followed, along with the latest entry before Pizzeria Simulator, Sister Location.
In addition to the games, a Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is in the works at horror movie studio Blumhouse, which has produced films like Insidious, Get Out, and Split. Oscar nominated director Gil Kenan has reportedly been tapped to direct the film.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is legitimately terrifying. In the game, players must survive in a scary version of Chuck E. Cheese’s that’s full of animatronic monsters.
