PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is getting plenty of attention in its Early Access phase on Stream, and the development team is already working on two new battlegrounds. We’ve got exclusive details on the setting and scale of these two maps, and we’re sharing them today. You can check out a full preview for the game in our June issue. Just to throw a caveat out right away, anything about these maps is subject to change and should not be considered final.
The first map is an island on the Adriatic Sea, which was part of the Yugoslavian territories. It’s an island of contrast – there are thick forests on the north side, Mediterranean coasts on the south side, and perhaps the most exciting, snowy mountains in the center. Finally, a chance to wear all those winter outfits in style! The island is 8x8km and will feature varying architecture in style and age depending where they are located.
The second map is 4x4km, and is located in a desert city. It was once a beautiful place to visit, but war ravaged its streets and sandstorms buried much of what remained. The south and east areas feature a canyon with a river running through it. Water from the river supports the small villages that remains after the city was destroyed. The north area of the island features hillside slums.
